Frustrated by the damage caused by invasive plants to our urban forests? Want to be a part of the solution? Get involved in the Baltimore Weed Warrior program and become a Certified Weed Warrior this spring!

Weed Warriors is a city-wide program focused on restoring our urban forest through the removal of invasive plant species by environmental stewards.Certified Weed Warriors are volunteers and advocates permitted to work in parks and remove invasive vegetation without the supervision of park employees. Certification requirements include a 3 part class series and participation in a group invasive vegetation removal event. The class curriculum includes invasive species identification, their impacts on Baltimore’s urban ecosystem, removal methods, creating management plans and leadership training. Certification and Classes are free and open to the public! Certified Weed Warriors receive a certification card, Weed Warriors t-shirt and invasive vegetation identification guide and curriculum resources.

WW101: Invasive Plants and Urban Ecosystems – Wed. March 8th 6:00 – 8:30 pm
WW102: Species Identification and Removal Techniques – Sat. March 11th 10:00 am -12:30 pm
WW201: Leadership and Safety – Sat. March 25th 10:00 am -12:30 pm

All classes will be held at Cylburn Arboretum’s Greenhouse Classrooms, 4915 Greenspring Ave. Baltimore MD
