Join TreeKeepers and volunteers at the city’s central tree nursery in Druid Hill Park. Help is needed organizing, and mulching container trees in preparation for planting season. Most trees will need to be rearranged and organized to go out to various planting project sites around the city. Some trees are left behind to store through the winter. Frost damage to roots is prevented by covering rootballs with woodchips. This also keeps the pots standing upright for collecting natural rainfall.
In this hands-on experience, TreeKeepers will learn about young tree care and selecting good nursery stock for planting. It is expected that participants wear closed toed shoes. Gloves, drink, and food will be provided. The meeting location is the intersection of Mountain Pass and Red Road in Druid Hill Park 21217.
