LARGE GROVES OF FLOWERING AND SHADE TREES WILL EXPAND BEYOND THE PATH FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO LINGER AMIDST THE COLORS AND SCENTS, TO SLOW DOWN, REST AND PICNIC, PLAY, OR DAYDREAM.

 

The nature of collaboration

The Baltimore City Forestry Board and TreeBaltimore, together with seasoned civic groups and park partners, are leading this vision of blossoms coloring a green network of bicycling and strolling paths that glory in nature’s seasonal changes throughout the year.

Meet the creative and seasoned team working on for the initial Druid Hill Park Section of the Flowering Tree Trail: Russ Moss, City Forestry Board, Tom Orth, president of Friends of Druid Hill Park, Jill Jonnes, City Forestry Board, Councilman Leon F. Pinkett III, Erik Dihle, Baltimore City’s Chief of Urban Forestry, Charles Murphy, TreeBaltimore, and Amanda Cunningham, City Forestry Board.

Volunteers needed to kick off the brand new Flowering Tree Trail!

Come celebrate and plant the first 39 blossoming trees of the 39-mile neighborhood-to-neighborhood Flowering Tree Trails of Baltimore. Distinguished Guests and Plucky Volunteers, it starts in Druid Hill Park, but soon the Flowering Tree Trail will wind all through the city. Come help and come find out how your neighborhood can be linked in.

Meet up behind the Rawlings Conservatory, parking or hitching your bike along the Druid Hill Promenade, at 9:00a.m. Please dress your own fine self for outdoor work but we’ll provide gloves, tools, refreshments and a welcoming and grateful spirit!

For this inaugural event, we’ll be planting silverbell, dogwood, cherry, crabapple, stewartia, and white fringe trees along a section of the Jones Falls Trail in Druid Hill Park, from the Druid Hill Promenade to Mansion House Drive.
