Earth Day at Clifton Park
Welcome to Earth Day @ Civic Works!
Saturday, April 22nd, 2017 (Rain or Shine)
10:00am – 1:00pm
Clifton Park is our home, and it’s also one of Baltimore’s best natural urban oases! Let’s celebrate the beauty of this park by giving it some much-needed love:
- We will focus on the Food Forest, a joint venture of our Baltimore Orchard Project and Charm City Farms, where edible plants are grown in the forest setting that used to be the arboretum for Johns Hopkins’ estate. We’ll mulch the paths, plant new edible trees, and remove invasive plants.
- We will work on our tree nursery at Hilltop House, where we store baby fruit and nut trees until they grow big enough to plant around the city’s orchards. We’ll add paths and a mulch station to increase the capacity of the nursery.
- We will mulch the young trees planted in the main park, as well as remove invasive vines from the stately oaks that dot the landscape in this historic park.
- Finally, we will have an indoor art option available for children, families, and seniors.
Wear clothes that can get dirty and closed-toe shoes, and come ready for a productive day!
